It takes a lot, then, for a new adaptation to do anything fresh or even justify its own existence. Sacha Bennett’s new, modern take on A Midsummer Night’s Dream is certainly succeeding in that goal – it’s a fun, bold adaptation that, although inexplicably taking place during the day, is also a faithful Shakespearean experience. Although this indie feature didn’t get much of a theatrical outing, Screenbound Pictures has released the film on Blu-ray which should delight fans of the Bard.
Synopsis
Shakespeare’s classic comedy: young lovers living under an oppressive state-rule flee their home-city to change their lives, and end up changing the world. After all, love changes everything.
