A Touch of Love Unboxing

Refreshing, and emotionally raw at times, A Touch of Love was a landmark film that – when one considers the on-gong demonisation of the ‘single mum’ – is no less relevant today than it was in the so-called swinging ’60s, says our Paula. The classic 1969 drama, starring Sandy Dennis and Ian McKellen, joins StudioCanal’s Vintage Classics series with this wonderful new Blu-ray release.

Synopsis

Sandy Dennis stars as Rosamund, a student and daughter of emotionally distant parents. After her first sexual encounter with handsome television announcer George played by Ian McKellen, Rosamund discovers she’s pregnant. Following a failed attempt to terminate the pregnancy, she decides to keep the baby, despite pressure from friends and relatives. Preparing herself for the indignities and isolation that being a single mother will bring, she is adamant about not revealing the identity of the father, realising that however much she may need a husband, the only important thing in her life is her child. Also starring John Standing and Eleanor Bron. Directed by Waris Hussein and adapted from the novel The Millstone by Margaret Drabble.
