Blood Ties

Blood Ties

On DVD and Blu-ray 6th October 2014

Guillaume Canet (Little White Lies) directs this stylish Seventies New York crime thriller with a star-studded cast including Clive Owen (Sin City), Mila Kunis (Ted), Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises), Zoe Saldana (Out of the Furnace), Billy Crudup (Eat, Pray, Love) and James Caan (The Godfather).

Canet’s celebrated European cinema background adds a gritty realism to the 70s East Coast swagger. Adapted from Michel Papet’s novel Les Liens Du Sang (aka “Rivals”) by James Gray (We Own The Night), the film screened at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.

New York, 1974.

Fifty-year-old Chris has just been released from prison on good behaviour, several years after he was involved in a gangland murder. Waiting for him reluctantly outside the prison gates is his younger brother, Frank, a cop with a bright future.

Hoping that Chris has changed, Frank is willing to give his brother a chance; he shares his home, finds him a job, and helps him reconnect with his children and his ex-wife. But Chris’ past quickly begins to catch up with him, and his descent back into a life of crime becomes inevitable.

For Frank, it’s the last in a long line of betrayals, and he banishes him from his life. But it’s already too late; the brothers’ destiny will be bounded, forever. Blood ties are the ones that bind.
