Samuel LoveFabulous Films, long-time purveyors of classic TV on Blu-ray, arguably released their masterpiece this summer when they put together a boxset of Columbo’s original 1970s run – all struck from gorgeous 4K remasters from NBC Universal. It remains not just their best release, but one of the best TV releases on the Blu-ray format. Fans had only one qualm. Where were the later years? Just in time for those cold winter nights, Fabulous have heard your calls and their new Blu-ray release – Columbo: The Final Years – collects all the remaining episodes, again from 4K remasters, in another must-own boxset. While these later episodes certainly don’t come close to the legendary 70s mysteries, even the worst Columbo is still better than most things you’ll find on TV today. Just wonderful, wonderful stuff.
