FROM THE STARS OF HORRIBLE HISTORIES COMES

BILL

AVAILABLE ON DVD FROM 15TH FEBRUARY 2016

OWN IT FIRST ON DIGITAL HD FROM 5TH FEBRUARY 2016

From the comedy-geniuses who starred in Horrible Histories, comes the hilarious family movie of the year, BILL. The critically acclaimed film follows the rise of the world’s most famous playwright, William Shakespeare, as you’ve never seen him before. It was released theatrically across the UK on over 300 screens in September 2015 and BILL will be available on DVD from 15th February 2016, courtesy of Universal Pictures (UK).  It will also be available on Digital HD from 5th February 2016 and Digital On Demand from 12th February, released by Vertigo Films.

The star-studded British ensemble cast includes Mathew Baynton (The Wrong Mans, You, Me and the Apocalypse), Simon Farnaby (Paddington), Martha Howe-Douglas (Doctor Foster), Jim Howick (Peep Show, Stag), Helen McCrory (Skyfall, Peaky Blinders) and Damian Lewis (Homeland). BILL was written by two of its stars – Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond.

Bill Shakespeare (Baynton) is a hapless lute player with a big dream. Kicked out of his band, Bill leaves his despairing wife and kids behind in Stratford to seek fame and fortune in London. He’s written a great work for the stage and he’ll prove all the doubters wrong.

In Madrid, King Phillip II of Spain (Willbond) has hatched his latest plan to rid the world of his mortal enemy, Queen Elizabeth (McCrory), and seize the English throne for himself. Sneaking into England with a motley crew of assassins, Phillip fools desperate courtier the Earl of Croydon (Farnaby) into helping with his devilish plot.

Aided by debt-riddled London playwright, Christopher Marlowe (Howick), Bill believes his big break has come when the Earl of Croydon offers to put on his play for Queen Elizabeth. Little does he know that King Phillip is using Shakespeare’s first work as the centrepiece in his plan to assassinate the Queen…

Don’t miss the chance to take a history lesson like never before from BILL!
