BLU-RAY / DVD / STEELBOOK / DOWNLOAD MONDAY FEBRUARY 10TH 2014
Lionsgate Home Entertainment is pleased to announce the Monday February 10th Blu- ray & DVD release of FILTH.
The critically acclaimed and hilarious film-adaptation of Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh’s iconic novel of the same name, is directed by Jon S. Baird, and sees James McAvoy give the performance of his career. FILTH also features an incredible supporting cast including Jamie Bell and Jim Broadbent.
Detective Sergeant Bruce Robertson (McAvoy), a bigoted and corrupt policeman, is in line for a promotion and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Enlisted to solve a brutal murder and threatened by the aspirations of his colleagues, Bruce sets about ensuring their ruin, right under the nose of unwitting Chief Inspector Toal.
As he turns his colleagues against one another by stealing their wives and exposing their secrets, Bruce starts to lose himself in a web of deceit that he can no longer control. His past is slowly catching up with him, and a missing wife, a crippling drug habit and suspicious colleagues start to take their toll on his sanity.
A bipolar, bigoted and corrupt cop, Robertson (McAvoy) manipulates and hallucinates his way through the festive period, until he finally meets his match… himself.
Recently named “Best Actor” at the Moet British Independent Film Awards for his role in the film, FILTH stars James McAvoy (X-Men, Atonement) alongside Jamie Bell (The Adventures of Tintin), Oscar winning actor, Jim Broadbent (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2), Imogen Poots (The Look of Love), Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey), Shirley Henderson (Trainspotting) and Eddie Marsan (The World’s End).
Originally published in 1998, FILTH was Irvine Welsh’s third novel, and the first to follow the worldwide success of Danny Boyle’s film adaptation of Trainspotting.
James McAvoy, Irvine Welsh and Jon S. Baird are all currently available for interview.
