Paramount Home Media Presents:
The Godfather Part II 40th anniversary

“There are many things my father taught me here in this room. He taught me: keep your friends close, but your enemies close”

The early life and career of Vito Corleone in 1920s New York is epitomized while his son, Michael develops and secures his grasp on his crime consortium stretching from Lake Tahoe,

Nevada to pre-revolution 1958 Cuba.

The Godfather: Part II tells two stories in two different timelines. One timeline begins in 1901 and tells how nine-year old Vito Andolini (Oreste Baldini) emigrated from Sicily to become Don of the Corleone crime family in New York. It ends in 1925 when Vito (Robert De Niro) returns to Sicily with his wife and four young children — Sonny, Fredo, Michael, and Connie — in order to kill the man who killed his parents. The second story begins in 1958 as Vito Corleone’s grandson Anthony (James Gounaris), son of Michael (Al Pacino) and Kay (Diane Keaton) Corleone, makes his First Communion and ends about a year or two later when young Anthony, his uncle Fredo (John Cazale), and Al Neri (Richard Bright) go fishing. The movie then ends with a flashback to December 1941 as the four Corleone children, their families, and adopted brother Tom Hagen (Robert Duvall) are planning a birthday party for Vito. The two stories are told concurrently with the earlier timeline as flashbacks.

In what is undeniably one of the best sequels ever made, Francis Ford Coppola continues his epic Godfather trilogy with this saga of two generations of power within the Corleone family. Coppola, working once again with the author Mario Puzo, crafts two interwoven stories that work as both prequel and sequel to the original. One shows the humble Sicilian beginnings and New York rise of a young Don Vito, now played in an Oscar®-winning performance for Best Supporting Actor by Robert De Niro. The other shows the ascent of Michael (Al Pacino) as the new Don. Reassembling many of the cast members who helped make The GodfatherTM, Coppola has produced a movie of staggering magnitude and vision; the film received eleven Academy Awards® nominations, winning six, including Best Picture of 1974. The Godfather Part II celebrates its 40th anniversary starring Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Robert Duvall. It is surely the God father of all movies. If you’ve not had the chance to catch up with this classic franchise, why not embrace the whole sequel with The Godfather restoration or The Godfather DVD collection, to unfold the Godfather tale.

The Godfather became the first sequel to win the best picture award. The Godfather was also nominated and won a catalogue of Oscars, Golden Globes and BAFTAs and to this day still holds its place as one of the most unforgettable and ageless movies of our time. As it marks its 40thanniversary this is more than certain one of the best, if not the best franchises of this era and with its 40th anniversary The Godfather II is still going strong with some of the other great classics of not just our time, but most probably of all time.
