Critically acclaimed director Sophie Fiennes (Because I Sing, Hoover Street Revival, VSPRS Show and Tell) and world-renowned philosopher Slavoj Zizek present the highly original and captivating, THE PERVERTS GUIDE TO IDEOLOGY.

Available to own on DVD from 14th October 2013.

THE PERVERT’S GUIDE TO IDEOLOGY, the compelling new feature documentary from director Sophie Fiennes and philosopher Slavoj Žižek continuing the collaboration begun with The Pervert’s Guide to Cinema (2006), will be available to own on DVD from 14th October 2013.

In THE PERVERT’S GUIDE TO IDEOLOGY, Fiennes and Žižek use their interpretation of moving pictures to present a compelling cinematic journey into the heart of ideology – the dreams that shape our collective beliefs and practices.

While The Pervert’s Guide to Cinema explored how in movies we encounter the traumas we cannot confront in reality, in THE PERVERT’S GUIDE TO IDEOLOGY, Žižek and Fiennes show us what psychoanalysis can tell us about ideology, by using their inventive interpretation of cinema to examine the mechanisms that shape our beliefs and practices. Fiennes shoots Zizek in replica studio sets from iconic films such as The Sound of Music, Taxi Driver, The Dark Knight, Triumph of the Will and Titanic in locations such as Salzburg, Austria and California to show audiences that ideology is not just for extremists, it is the name for the unconscious fantasies that structure our daily lives.

Widely acclaimed as one of the most original thinkers of our time, Slavoj Zizek is a world-renowned public intellectual and the author of more than 50 books on diverse subjects ranging from opera, to religion, film, and the war in Iraq. Sophie Fiennes began making films in 1998, she is widely acclaimed for her unique observational eye and strong sense of cinematic form. THE PERVERT’S GUIDE TO IDEOLOGY cleverly collaborates Zizeks deep philosophies on ideology and Fiennes ability to portray this using a captivating cinematic vision that draws the audience in.

A compelling cinematic experience, available to own on DVD from 14th October 2013
