Based on the much-loved Adam Dalgliesh novels by PD James, compelling period crime drama Dalgliesh is a wonderful throwback to the glory days of TV detective procedurals. With its gorgeously realised 1970s setting and wonderful lead performance from Bertie Carvel in the titular role, this addictive series may not offer much by way of originality – indeed, this is the third time Dalgliesh has been adapted for the small screen – but it is a handsomely produced affair that oozes quality across its three series. Another wonderful release from Acorn Media who have established themselves as the purveyors of crime television.
