Samuel LoveIn a cinema landscape overburdened with franchise slop and remakes, Death of a Unicorn cannot be accused of not being original. This unique comedy-horror sees a father and daughter (Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega) accidentally hit and kill a young unicorn (!!!) on the road, sending its parents on a blood-soaked quest for vengeance while an eccentric billionaire tries to harness the species’ curing powers. It’s all utterly bizarre but I sure am grateful to see something so wonderfully unique. Harking back to B-movie creature features while carving out its own unique identity, Death of a Unicorn is packed with grisly kills and black humour and deserves your attention. A wonderful time.
Synopsis
A father (Paul Rudd) and daughter (Jenna Ortega) accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss (Richard E. Grant) seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.
