This February, Network are issuing two DVD collections which are sure to please fans of vintage children’s TV.

The first is ABC’s Pathfinders—long regarded as a Stanley Newman’s dry-run for BBC’s Doctor Who. The second are the two Beneath The Sea series, which act as a semi-sequel to Pathfinders.

Both series star Gerald Flood as an intrepid reporter, Mark Bannerman, with his young assistant, Peter Blake (Stewart Gudiotti, Star Cops) who are once again caught up in situations beyond their control. Both also boast an impressive array of period actors and writers who add gravitas and drama to the often creaky sets and stiff-jawed line delivery. 

Created by cult favourite John Lucarotti (Doctor Who, The Avengers, Into The Labyrinth and Star Maidens) eagle-eyed viewers will also spot Doctor Who scriptwriter Barry Letts in a rare acting role, along with acting icons Peter Gill (Zulu), Morris Perry and (Doctor Who, Callan),and Caroline Blakiston (Star Wars)

When Bannerman and Blake are invited aboard an atomic submarine to observe the trials of a new underwater transmitter, they embark on an adventure which leads them into the depths of inner space.
