Undoubtedly one of the unexpected hits of the year was Amazon Prime’s Good Omens. Unexpected not because there’s anything wrong with the source material: far from it. But simply because, when it comes to adapting well-loved books, it’s so very, very easy to get it wrong.

Fortunately, Good Omens is pitch perfect thanks to a well-judged script and a co-stars—Michael Sheen and David Tennant—who are clearly having a ball.

Aziraphale is a fussy angel. Crowley is a loose-living demon. They’ve both been on Earth for over 6,000 years. During that time they’ve grown quite fond of it, and, against all odds, each other. But there’s a problem – the Antichrist has arrived here on Earth, which means the world they have become too fond of will end in flames, if they don’t manage to save it. So, reluctantly at first, Aziraphale and Crowley join forces in an attempt to find the 11-year-old Antichrist (and his dog) and avert the Apocalypse.

Good Omens is as wildly imaginative and funny as you’d expect from a series which owes its existence to the combined genius of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

Available just in time for Christmas, the DVD/blu-ray features a host of exclusive extras including audio commentaries for all six episodes.
