A lot of shocking things have happened in the last two years. It’s been a monumental time that the history books will speak of for many years to come. But perhaps one of the biggest surprises came in the form of Nobody, a blood-soaked thriller that made an action star out of…Saul Goodman. Yes, Bob Odenkirk – an icon of comedy – is now one of the greatest action heroes in cinema. Who could’ve seen that coming?

Nobody sees Hutch (Odenkirk), an underestimated and overlooked family man, reaching a boiling point when a house robbery reawakens his violent past as he embarks on an ultraviolent journey of vengeance and vigilantism. While elements of the narrative itself might be a little unoriginal – certainly the concept of a family man reaching a violent breaking point is something that we’ve seen many times before – this is a film with its’ focus entirely on its almost non-stop action and over-the-top set-pieces.

Culminating in one of the best action sequences in years with help from his shotgun-toting father (Back to the Future’s Christopher Lloyd) and friend (RZA), Nobody is an endlessly entertaining, tightly paced 90-minute thrill-ride that comfortably earns the title of the best action film in years. Seeing Christopher Lloyd laying waste to an onslaught of Russian gangsters with a shotgun is peak cinema, and we should all be very grateful.

NOBODY is available now on digital platforms, DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD from Universal Pictures
