Edgar Ramirez Gets Joy

Last seen chasing down demons in Deliver Us From Evil it seems Edgar Ramirez is moving on to happier times having been cast in David O. Russell’s Joy.  Russell is reassembling his Silver Linings Playbook cast having already snagged Jennifer Lawrence to play the lead and Robert De Niro to play her father.

Joy tells the true story of Joy Mangano a woman trying to support three children by tinkering with things in order to make the next must-have gadget.  She eventually succeeded when she invented the Miracle Mop and became a regular fixture on The Shopping Network as a result.  Ramirez will play her untrustworthy husband who she eventually divorced.

Before that though we’ll get to see Ramirez in the now legendary role of Bodhi, made famous by the sadly departed Patrick Swayze, in the Point Break remake.  Source – The Hollywood Reporter

Alex Moss Editor

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
