With Mother’s Day fast approaching, we thought we’d share some of our favourite Mother’s Day films. From musicals to romance-laden tear jerkers, from buddy-flicks to monster movies, we’ve got you covered for any mood!

Mamma Mia (2008)
Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is getting married so decides to go on for a search for her real father by inviting men from her mother’s (Meryl Streep) past to her wedding – without telling her! The story is told through the hit songs of popular 70’s group Abba and will be sure to get you singing along in your front room.

Dirty Dancing (1987)
Nobody puts baby in the corner! This romance is sure to get you up and dancing. When ‘Baby’ (Jennifer Grey) attends a summer resort with her family, she ends up falling for the gorgeous dance instructor, played by Patrick Swayze, much to her dad’s disapproval.

Bridget Jones Diary (2001)
She drinks too much, eats too much and is constantly searching for Mr Right. Which makes this hilarious comedy a favourite for many. Renee Zellweger plays the thirty-something-year-old who is determined to take control of her life. Yeah. Good luck with that Bridget.

Stepmom (1998)
Jackie (Susan Sarandon), a terminally- ill woman, has to learn to get along with her ex-husband’s new lover who will soon become her children’s step-mother. Even though Isabel (Julia Roberts) is half her age the woman form a truce, both wanting what’s best for the children.

The Other Woman (2014)
Starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, and Kate Upton, this film centres on a modern day love triangle with a twist. Three women discover their partner is cheating on them with another, but instead of fighting, they befriend each another and team up to plot revenge on him. Girl Power at its best.

Moulin Rouge! (2001)
Set in the city of love, the film follows the romance between Satine (Nicole Kidman), a  courtesan at the glamourous Moulin Rouge, and Christian (Ewan McGregor). Laugh, sing, cry, and admire the amazing costumes with your mum while watching this stylish musical.

The Intern (2015)
Anne Hathaway stars as Jules Ostin, a career focused CEO of an online fashion site. Her company has an internship program and Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro) is selected to shadow and help Jules’s out. At first she protests, believing that they have nothing in common. However they soon end up becoming fast friends.

Aliens (1986)
Why should Mum have to put up with schmaltz when can watch Siggy go momo-a-momo against the Alien Bitch Queen. If you were Newt, you just know that you Mum wouldn’t hesitate to step into that power loader and give that monster mother a fist full of metal. And that’s what makes this movie the perfect feel-good Mother’s Day flick.

The Intern is out on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD now.
