From executive producer Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty), Bloodlands is a dark and compelling crime drama following veteran North Ireland police detective Brannick (James Nesbitt) and his obsessive campaign to unmask the legendary assassin at the centre of a notorious and long-buried series of mysterious disappearances.
The four-part series, written by Chris Brandon and directed by Pete Travis (2012’s Dredd), is ultimately a rather unoriginal police procedural that pales considerably in comparison to the acclaimed Line of Duty series, but there’s still a lot to enjoy in its familiarity. This is proper old-fashioned Sunday night British crime telly, and there’s enough twists and turns to keep viewers satisfied until the final moments.
With a second series commissioned, there’s no time like the present to catch up with the brooding Bloodlands, which is available now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital from Dazzler Media.
