Andrew Niccol’s cult 1997 sci-fi Gattaca makes its long-overdue 4K debut this March, and that is cause for celebration. The absorbing and cerebral drama is one of the best films of the 90s, offering a provocative look at the potential future of eugenics, and is timelier than ever as more and more advancements are being made in the world of science. But at its core, Gattaca is a human story that deals with the idea of destiny as its characters try and find their place in the world.

With an all-star cast including Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman and Jude Law, Gattaca is must-see intellectual entertainment with flawless direction and writing from Andrew Niccol, who would earn an Oscar nom the following year for his screenplay for The Truman Show.

This 4K disc looks absolutely mesmerising, breathing new life into the film and making it ripe for reappraisal for those who didn’t enjoy it the first time round. Gattaca is an essential and unforgettable sci-fi drama, rich in ideas and perfectly executed.
