As comforting as an old wooly jumper or a well-worn pair of slippers, this charmingly simple series is an absolute delight.

We took a closer look at the Limited Edition Blu-ray release…

Synopsis

One of the most successful television series ever made, The Adventures of Black Beauty’s winning mix of charm, period detail and mild peril thrilled viewers the world over – and five decades later it still remains a benchmark production in children’s television. Newly-scanned and remastered from existing film elements, the complete series is presented here in High Definition for the first time. Featuring scripts by Ted Willis, Richard Carpenter, Victor Pemberton and David Butler, among others, this series guest-starred John Thaw, Geoffrey Bayldon, Peter Bowles, Mike Pratt, Jack Shepherd, Stuart Damon, Lesley Dunlop and Gerald Flood.

Dr James Gordon has moved from London to the country. His two children explore Five Oaks and find an exhausted, wounded horse. They become very attached to the animal as they bring him back to health – so it comes as a shock when his owner tries to reclaim him.
