Peter Medak’s 1990 crime drama The Krays, starring Spandau Ballet’s Martin and Gary Kemp, is a film that I don’t think anybody expected to ever get the Second Sight Films treatment. Despite something of a cult status, the cheesy thriller is not a particularly good film. And yet, here it is, in a lavish and elegant boxset release befitting the notorious Krays’ hedonistic lifestyle.

But while the film is certainly dated now and bursting with hammy performances, there is still an undeniable rawness to it that later similar crime dramas – including Tom Hardy-starrer Legend – have failed to achieve. Fans of the film will be delighted with this new release that offers a fantastic HD transfer of the film, a selection of new and archival special features and glorious packaging.

This release is another winner from Second Sight.

“From their humble East End beginnings, Ronnie and Reggie Kray became the most notorious figures in London’s gangland underworld. From extortion to murder, their horrific brutality became legendary and throughout the 50s and 60s they ruled by fear, until life sentences in 1969 finally ended their bloody reign of terror.” – Second Sight Films
