Second Sight Films’ impeccably designed, beautifully lavish limited editions have deservedly come to be considered the finest releases in physical media, and they’ve all been building toward this. Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre – easily the grittiest, grimiest, and most relentlessly harrowing horror in film history – has joined Second Sight’s celebrated catalogue in 4K UHD and the results are beyond breathtaking. This release is utterly perfect across the board; the premium packaging, the colossal wealth of special features, the hardback book that could easily become an essential part of any film fan’s bookshelf in itself – it all conspires to make Second Sight’s best release yet. And that’s saying something.

The film needs no introduction; those who know it will never forget it, those who don’t are in for a grisly treat (if they can stomach it). It looks and sounds revelatory, and yet still retains that dirty 16mm charm. This is a film that shouldn’t look perfect, and the 4K deftly balances that with an incredible clarity and grain structure. Dolby Vision HDR and a stunning Dolby Atmos track add to this incredible viewing experience that ratchets the terror to new levels.

I honestly cannot articulate just how flawless this release is, so I’ll let it speak for itself in our brief unboxing and urge you with all my might to add it to your collection as a matter of urgency. This one is essential.
