Those lovely folks at Signal One Entertainment are continuing to prove themselves as one of the best distributors of home media today, with three more cinematic gems making their UK Blu-ray debuts. These three little-seen dramas of American film are magnificent hidden gems ripe for rediscovery.

We took a look at the releases…

THE RAZOR’S EDGE

Screen legend Tyrone Power stars in this engaging classic based on W. Somerset Maugham’s best-selling novel.

Despite being offered an impressive job when he returns from World War I, Larry Darrell (Power) instead opts for the Paris bohemian lifestyle, followed by a soul-searching trip to the Far East. After his beautiful fiancée (Gene Tierney) loses patience with the spiritual seeker and marries a wealthy man, Larry finds himself drawn to Sophie (Anne Baxter in an OSCAR®-Winning performance), an old friend. Newly widowed, Sophie has descended into alcoholism, a state from which Larry hopes to save her in this thought-provoking film nominated for four ACADEMY AWARDS®, including Best Picture.

NEXT STOP, GREENWICH VILLAGE

Fresh out of college, Larry Lapinksy leaves his traditional Jewish home – and his overbearing mother – in Brooklyn. An aspiring actor, he moves to Manhattan and the bohemian enclave of Greenwich Village where he seeks his fortune. He quickly takes his place among young creative types and is soon on the verge of a career breakthrough…but his mother finds it hard to let him go.

Special Features: Still Gallery, Video Essay on Director Paul Mazursky by Film Critic Mark Searby, Audio Commentary by Director Paul Mazursky and Actress Ellen Greene, Trailer

THE PAPER CHASE

TIMOTHY BOTTOMS stars in this powerful, moving story of a first-year Harvard Law School student who comes to terms with his dreams in America’s most competitive school.

Serious and hard-working, Hart (BOTTOMS) finds he must survive much more than the pressures, all-night cramming, and insecurities he expected. He becomes the fearful adversary of Knightsfield, the school’s most imperious, witheringly sarcastic yet brilliant professor (JOHN HOUSEMAN in an Oscar® winning). Terrorising some, inspiring others, the professor easily separates the men from the boys by the time the term is over. Hart’s personal relationship with Knightsfield grows more complex when he discovers the girl he’s fallen in love with is the professor’s daughter (LINDSAY WAGNER).

Special Features: Audio Commentary by Producer Robert C. Thompson, Trailer
