Samuel LoveRidley Scott’s long-awaited follow-up to his Oscar-winning epic Gladiator may not have reached the acclaim the first film did, but we still thought it was a thoroughly enjoyable romp. The film is now available at home, and the 4K UHD disc is certainly destined to be an all-timer, reference-quality disc. Gladiator II looks – and moreso, sounds – absolutely impeccable on the format. Fans of the film will also be delighted by the smorgasbord of bonus features that offer a wonderful insight into the film’s large-scale production. Entertained you certainly will be.
Synopsis
From legendary director Ridley Scott, Gladiator II continues the epic saga of power, intrigue, and vengeance set in Ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Paul Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist. With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return the glory of Rome to its people.
