The second season of prequel series Mystery Road Origin delves even deeper into Jay Swan’s early days, mixing a gripping outback mystery with plenty more personal drama. Set against rugged Australian landscapes, the visually-stunning show combines slow-burn tension with high emotional stakes. As secrets unravel and loyalties are tested, Origin continues to shape Jay into the detective we know. It’s a moody, intense must-watch for fans of the series, and another title in Acorn Media’s catalogue that reinforces their penchant for crime and mystery.
Synopsis
Jay Swan and Mary are attempting to forge a new life together as they care for her niece, Anya, and await the birth of their first child. After Jay rescues a distressed runaway boy who believes he’s being haunted, a young child goes missing and a former nun drowns mysteriously in her own bath – the town has been hiding a shadowy past that is still rippling through the present. When a second victim is shot in broad daylight, Anya also goes. Jay’s struggle to reconcile the cool-headedness of his calling with the emotional vulnerability of a life with Mary and their child is finally resolved when his first kill forces him to make a critical choice between his badge and his wife and baby.
