And so we enter the time of year where all those ‘Top 10 Film of The Year’ Lists are made to look stupid as the award season kicks off.  The BAFTA Awards are always something a little fresh and this year is no exception.  Gravity leads the way with no less than 11 nominations followed closely by Captain Phillips and American Hustle which both get 10.  What has caused some surprise, and no end of debate on social media, is Gravity’s nomination for Outstanding British Film.  You only need to look at who produced it and where almost all of the visual effects were created to see BAFTA’s more than reasonably logic in that call.  The full list of nominations is below and of course let us know what you think of them; good or bad?

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
