Given the resounding brilliance of last year’s Gone Girl (it came in at No. 2 on FilmJuice’s Favourite Films of 2014 in case you were wondering which you can read HERE) it’s no surprise to see Ben Affleck, David Fincher and writer Gillian Flynn looking to get back together again.  Deadline are reporting the trio are looking to remake Alfred Hitchcock’s Strangers On A Train, although they’re dropping the Train bit and just calling it Strangers at this point.

The plot will see Affleck as a big Hollywood star on an Oscar campaign when the jet he’s been on the campaign with breaks down.  He manages to hitch a ride with a wealthy businessman who proposes a little murder swap routine.  The original film, based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel saw a tennis pro meet a wealthy man and the two concoct an idea to murder someone else in their life in order to get away with it.  The story was also loosely adapted for Billy Crystal, Danny DeVito comedy Throw Momma From The Train.

Fincher will direct the project hoping Affleck can squeeze it in between directing Live By Night and donning his Batman cowl for the Justice League movie but he’ll next be seen opposite Anna Kendrick in The Accountant. Here’s hoping they manage to find a role for the fourth Musketeer of Gone Girl Rosamund Pike. Source – Deadline

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
