Al Pacino, last seen in more forgettable fair such as Son Of No One and Righteous Kill, is wanted by director David Gordon Green to take the lead role in his upcoming film Manglehorn. The story sees A.J. Manglehorn as a small time guy living in a small town who harbours a dark secret. He’s a criminal who chose a life of crime ahead of the love of his life which now sees him sitting at a dinning table at night alone talking to his cat. Green is taking the project to Cannes in the hope of drumming up some funding and if he can secure Pacino’s name will most likely be shown the money. Green’s a busy man at the moment with Prince Avalanche, starring Paul Rudd, due out later this year while he’s currently at work on Nicolas Cage comedy drama Joe. Pacino meanwhile will be heard in Despicable Me 2 and seen in Imagine opposite Julianne Moore and Jeremy Renner. Source – Deadline
