Anthony Hopkins, last seen under a ton of makeup in Hitchcock and soon to be seen in RED 2, has joined the cast of mobster biopic Gotti.  The film tells the story of John Gotti, from the point of view of his son, who rose in the mafia to become head of the Gambino family in New York.  John Travolta is on to star in the lead role with Joe Johnston set to direct the film.  Barry Levinson was at one point set to direct the film and had lined up the likes of Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, Lindsay Lohan and Ben Foster to star opposite Travolta.  Travolta’s real life wife Kelly Preston is still on board to star opposite her husband.  Hopkins is of course re-teaming with his Thor director Johnston for the film which he’ll be seen later this year in the sequel Thor: The Dark World.  After that he’ll set sail for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah.  Source – Variety

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
