Ben Affleck, the man who has donned a superhero costume before in the less than successful Daredevil, has been announced at the man to take over from Christian Bale as Batman. Affleck will star as The Caped Crusader opposite Henry Cavill in the recently announced, but still untitled, Batman Vs. Superman film which Man Of Steel director Zack Synder will make as a follow-up to this year’s Supes outing. Warners, who are producing the film, have a long and healthy relationship with Affleck having been behind him on his directing projects Argo, Gone Baby Gone and The Town. It was rumoured that they were looking for an older Batman to play against Cavill’s younger Superman with names such as Josh Brolin being rumoured to be in the running. Affleck now faces the daunting task of following-up Christian Bale’s iconic turn as Bruce Wayne / Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy. It’s also worth nothing that Affleck has once donned the Superman outfit for Hollywoodland when he played original TV Superman George Reeves. Batman Vs. Superman is scheduled for the blockbuster year that is 2015 but before that Affleck will be seen in David Fincher’s adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl. Source – Variety
