Beverly Hills Cop Getting New Movie?
Beverly Hills Cop, one of the films that set Eddie Murphy on the road to stardom, is rumoured to be getting a new instalment in the franchise. Axel Foley has been dormant since 1994’s Beverly Hills Cop 3 but a recent TV show pilot seems to have sparked studio Paramount to look into getting Axel Foley back on the streets of Los Angeles. The pilot, which focused on Brandon T. Jackson as Foley’s son with Eddie Murphy also appearing, was not picked up but apparently scored high test screenings to make Paramount think there is life in the old dog yet. Show producer, and the man behind The Shield, Shawn Ryan broke the news on Twitter stating that while the show was dead a new movie was now in development. It’s strange that a show could score high and inspire a possible new movie and not get picked up. The good news for Beverly Hills Cop fans is that Paramount are rumoured to have approached Murphy to reprise his iconic role, no word on Judge Reinhold or John Ashton but if there’s any justice in the world the whole band will be put back together. Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec, who were two of the writers behind Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, have been hired to pen the script for the film. Murphy is currently gearing up to star opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito for Twins sequel Triplets. Source – Deadline
