Neil Blomkamp and Sharlto Copley, the director and star behind the brilliant District 9 and the upcoming Elysium, are set to re-team for a third film on Blomkamp’s Chappie.  It seems Blomkamp had the idea while he was writing Elysium so teamed up with his District 9 co-writer Terri Tatchell with the pair getting it written in just three weeks.  Little is really known about the film other than it is much more comedy based than the dark looking Elysium and will star a comedy robot.  Quite whether Copley will end up playing said robot or perhaps the robot’s friend is still up in the air at this point.  Copley has a few films in the pipeline at the moment including Maleficent opposite Angelina Jolie.  Elysium meanwhile is released on 20th May and stars Matt Damon and Jodie Foster.

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
