Bradley Cooper Wants A Honeymoon With Harry

Currently gaining awards buzz for his role in Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper Bradley Cooper is already looking to expand his career with news he’s hoping to make his directorial debut.  The film in question is Honeymoon With Harry, a film Bradley Cooper wants to both star in and direct.

The film itself has had a long and drawn-out life with New Line gaining the rights to Bart Barker’s unpublished book back in 2004.  Back then Paul Haggis was hired to write and direct with Vince Vaughn and Jack Nicholson looking to star in the two lead roles.  But a tone of the film could never be settled on at it soon faded away.

The story would see a partying womaniser who falls for the perfect girl and wants to put his past life behind him.  But the girl’s father pegs him for what he really is and is determined to break them up.  Sticking together the couple almost make it to the church but she dies tragically forcing him to go on the honeymoon with the intention of drinking himself to death with little left to live for.  That is until he arrives on her favourite beach only to find her father is there to scatter her ashes.  All sounds very Crazy Stupid Love meets Leaving Las Vegas.

Which is interesting because at the moment Crazy Stupid Love writer Dan Fogelman has been hired to try and guide the film into production.  Cooper is looking to play the main role with his Silver Linings Playbook co-star Robert De Niro being eyed for the role of the father.  Having produced Sliver Linings and American Sniper Cooper wants to expand his resume and also direct Honeymoon.

Before all that Cooper has Cameron Crowe‘s untitled project in the works before he reunites with his Silver Linings team of De Niro and Jennifer Lawrence for David O. Russell’s Joy.  Source – Deadline
