Could Chris Pratt Join The Magnificent Seven?
It’s been a hell of a year for the former Parks & Rec star Chris Pratt. First he leant his vocal talents to The Lego Movie then he was the star of hugely successful The Guardians Of The Galaxy, had us gawping in the first trailer for Jurassic World and more recently was cast in comic adaptation Cowboy Ninja Viking. So what next for Mr. Pratt? It seems that Pratt will be utilising one of his skills from Cowboy Ninja Viking as he’s in early discussion to join the cast of The Magnificent Seven remake.
Denzel Washington has already signed on to star in the film which will be directed by his Training Day and Equalizer director Antoine Fuqua. The original film from 1960 was itself a remake of Kurosawa’s The Seven Samurai and saw a group of seven gunslingers assembled to help protect a small village from a gang of nasty banditos. It starred the likes of Yule Brynner, Charles Bronson and Steve McQueen on scene stealing form. In fact if Pratt does sign on he’d be a perfect fit for the McQueen role opposite a more serious Washington in the Brynner role. But the word is that the film, which has been written by John Lee Hancock and True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto, is taking a slightly different direction to the first film and would see Pratt take on a role created for the updated version, which would be set after The Civil War as the Wild West came to an end, called Farraday.
MGM are hoping to finally get the film into production, after years of development, next year with Fuqua still needing at least five members of the Seven to complete the pack. Source – Deadline
