Dev Patel, the actor most recently seen in Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom and famous for his role in Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire, could be set to head back to the slums for Neil Blomkamp’s Chappie.  The film will see Blomkamp adapt another of his short films, as he did with District 9, which will see a robot and human team up to police an impoverished slum.  You can see the original film below.  Blomkamp is currently busy putting the finishing touches to his next sci-fi epic, starring Matt Damon, Elysium and will make Chappie his next film.  He has talked extensively on wanting to make Chappie a comedy with the robot and human no doubt clashing over protocol.  Patel meanwhile will return to The Newsroom for the second season which starts again later this year.  Source – The Hollywood Reporter

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
