
Man From U.N.C.L.E Gets Some Hammer
Armie Hammer, the actor who made his name as The Social Network’s Winklevoss twins and who was last seen in Mirror Mirror, is set to star opposite Tom Cruise in the film version of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Cruise will take on the Robert Vaughn’s role, Napoleon Solo, from the ‘60s TV show while Hammer would fill the role of Illya Kuryakin played by David McCallum in the original incarnation. The concept saw the two agents of the United Network Command for Law Enforcement trying to take down the evil organisation known as T.H.R.U.S.H. And no, that’s not a typo. Guy Ritchie is set to direct the film which has been through a host of development issues after original star George Clooney dropped out due to the physical demands of the film while original director Steven Soderbergh eventually walked from the project. Before he teams up with Cruise though Hammer as the small matter of teaming up with Johnny Depp in this summer’s Lone Ranger which hits screens this August. Source – Deadline
