Henry Cavill, the man about to be seen as Superman in Zack Synder’s Man Of Steel, is in talks to play The Man From U.N.C.L.E.  The film has had a tricky path to navigate with directors and stars coming and going.  First off, Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney were set to direct and star before George sustained and injury and had to leave the project.  Then came a fleeting moment where Bradley Cooper thought about it but never committed, before Soderbergh left the project.  More recently Tom Cruise agreed to star but he became busy with Mission Impossible 5 while Guy Ritchie is now set to direct with Armie Hammer and Alicia Vikander signed on to star.  That leaves the key role of Napoleon Solo for Cavill to hopefully fill.   The film, based on the ‘60s TV show of the same name, sees two agents, the Russian Illyan Kuryakin to be played by Hammer, and American Solo who are members of the United Network Command for Law Enforcement trying to stop the evil organisation known as THRUSH.  The script has been written by Contagion’s Scott Z. Burns who has said he wants to keep the ‘60s setting of the TV show.  So can U.N.C.L.E. finally confirm its two agents in the form of Cavill And Hammer?  Or is there another twist in the tale?  Source – Variety

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
