Helen Mirren Could Take The Hundred-Foot Journey
Helen Mirren, last seen giving Anthony Hopkins a run for his money in Hitchcock and soon to be heard in Monsters University, is in talks to join The Hundred-Foot Journey. Directed by Chocolat’s Lasse Hallstrom, so he knows a little bit about culinary delights, the film will be based on Richard C. Morais’ novel about two rival restaurants. Mirren will play Madame Mallory, a chef at a Michelin starred restaurant, who is none too pleased when an Indian restaurant opens up just one-hundred feet from her own eatery. But when she befriends the son of the family who own the restaurant she helps feed his appetite to learn more about food. Between this, Jon Favreau’s Chef and Bradley Cooper’s rival film, also still known as Chef, it seems that cooks are very much on cinema’s menu. Are chefs the new vampires? Before she dons her chef’s hat though, Mirren will next be seen as an OAP assassin in RED 2 opposite Bruce Willis. Source – Deadline
