Josh Brolin, the actor last seen in Gangster Squad and soon to be seen in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, has joined the cast of Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice. While the part Brolin will be playing is being kept under wraps it is known that he will star alongside the already impressive cast of Joaquin Phoenix, Owen Wilson, Benicio Del Toro, Reese Witherspoon and rumour has it Sean Penn. Based on Thomas Pynchon’s 2009 novel, Inherent Vice will see Phoenix as Doc Sportello, a Private Investigator, who only surfaces from his haze of drugs, to take on the most interesting of cases and his latest sees him trying to track down his missing ex-girlfriend in Los Angeles of 1969. Thomas Anderson, who last gave us The Master, has wanted to make the film since reading the book is also writing the script. Before that, Brolin will be seen later this year in Spike Lee’s remake of Oldboy before heading to Juno director Jason Reitman’s Labor Day opposite Kate Winslet. Source – Deadline
