King Arthur, Captain America & Oliver Stone – News Round-up
While Captain America: Civil War will focus primarily on Steve Rogers Vs. Tony Stark it seems Marvel aren’t quite willing to label either of those as a ‘villain’ and have therefore recruited Rush star Daniel Brühl to fill that gap. There’s no word on who exactly he’ll play but Variety are reporting that he’ll play the same evildoer in the first Doctor Strange film. Benedict Cumberbatch is still rumoured to be in talks to take on that role. Source – Marvel
Speaking of evildoers it seems Guy Ritchie needs one for his planned King Arthur franchise so is turning to his Sherlock star Jude Law to fill those boots. It’s not clear if Law will play a villain just for the first film or whether he’ll be a big-bad style character for the entire planned franchise but Law as a villain certainly has potential. Charlie Hunnam is all set to play Arthur with Astrid Berges-Frisbey playing Guinevere. Source – Variety
It’s been quite a year for Shailene Woodley with Divergent and The Fault In Our Stars both putting her in the big-time and it doesn’t get much bigger than potentially working for a director like Oliver Stone. The director of Platoon and JFK is putting together his Edward Snowden project and already has Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the lead role with Woodley apparently in talks to play his girlfriend. The plot will tell of the American secrets whistle-blower as he went from Hawaii to Hong Kong met a series of journalists and finally became a diplomatic outcast and spent time living in an airport in Moscow.
