Leonardo DiCaprio On for Travis McGee
Leonardo DiCaprio and Dennis Lehane, the star and author of Shutter Island, are re-teaming for a fourth time on upcoming crime project Travis McGee. Lehane will adapt John D. MacDonald’s novel The Deep Blue Good-by which sees Travis McGee, a self appointed “salvage consultant” who lives on a house boat he won in a card game. McGee will help you find anything you’ve lost as long as he gets to keep half of it. First published in 1978 The Deep Blue Good-by is the first of 21 stories that follow McGee with Fox hoping to launch a potential franchise with DiCaprio in the lead role. The Bourne Ultimatum director Paul Greengrass is set to direct.
DiCaprio and Lehane have worked together before on the aforementioned Shutter Island, Lehane’s short story Running Out Of Dog which DiCaprio is currently developing and Ben Affleck’s next directorial effort Live By Night which DiCaprio is producing and Lehane wrote the source novel for. Travis McGee will mark the first time Lehane has adapted someone else’s material for the big screen, although he has written for TV shows such as The Wire and Boardwalk Empire. DiCaprio can currently be seen in cinemas with Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby and will be seen next in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf Of Wall Street. Source – The Hollywood Reporter
