Drew Pearce, the co-writer behind the mammoth box office hit that is Iron Man 3, has clearly caught the eye of big movie producers as he’s now been hired to write the latest Mission Impossible film. It was only announced last week that Mission Impossible was definitely going ahead with Tom Cruise returning for a fifth outing. While plot details are being kept in a vault and guarded by an IMF Team it’s fair to expect Cruise to be doing a bit of running and gunning while trying to save the world with the help of his team which will likely include Simon Pegg and perhaps the likes of Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton from Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. There is still no official word on who will direct the film other than Jack Reacher director Christopher McQuarrie has been consulting with Cruise on the project up till now and remains the man most likely to sit in the director’s chair. Pearce, who got his break by creating and writing TV comedy No Heroics, has become Hollywood hot property after the success of Iron Man and has the likes of Sherlock Holmes 3, Runaways and even did a polish for Guillermo del Toro on Pacific Rim.
