Nailed Becomes Accidental Love

Now here’s a weird one.  Back in 2008 David O. Russell, he behind Silver Linings Playbook, The Fighter and American Hustle, directed a film called Nailed.  It starred Jessica Biel as a waitress whose life is changed when a nail-gun accidentally shoots her in the head causing her personality to change.  But, thanks to the good old US of A she can’t afford to have the nail removed so heads to Washington to campaign a Senator, in the form of Jake Gyllenhaal, into changing healthcare legislation in the country.

Fast-forward to now and the film has gone through all manner of changes.  Production was halted numerous times before O. Russell eventually walked from the film.  Extensive re-shoots took place and the film is now credited to director Stephen Greene – no, we haven’t heard of him either.  So the film that was called Nailed is now called Accidental Love and is looking at getting a February video on demand release State-side.

Of course films go through all manner of issues before finally hitting screens but this one is particularly strange as on the surface Nailed looked like it could be an interesting little satire.  The cast is strong, with Biel and Gyllenhaal being supported by the likes of Catherine Keener, Tracy Morgan and James Marsden and yet somehow the trailer, which you can see below, makes it look all kinds of awful.

Many are speculating that had O. Russell been able to complete the film to his desires it could have made an interesting follow-up to his film at the time I Heart Huckabees.  Of course we’ll never know the truth. Let us know what you think of the trailer below.  Source – Film Stage
