Oscar Isaac is no stranger to playing villains, just ask Russell Crowe who he squared off against in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood.  So the news that Isaac is now to play a really big-bad in the form of X-Men: Apocalypse should come as no surprise.  Add to that he’s now one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors and Bryan Singer’s X-Men follow-up to Days Of Future Past has scored one hell of a villain.

The character of Apocalypse, who was briefly glimpsed at the end of Days Of Future Past, is said to be the oldest mutant on Earth, dating back to the Egyptian era, will wake in the 1980s to wreak all manner of havoc for us mere mortals.  Hoping to put a stop to him, or perhaps help him in some cases, will be James McAvoy’s Professor Xavier, Michael Fassbender’s Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique and presumably a host of other returning X-Men that might or might not include Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Channing Tatum in the role of Gambit.  It’s also been announced that younger incarnations of characters such as Jean Grey and Cyclops.  Recent rumours have suggested that Chloe Moretz is on the short-list for Grey while some reports have Robert Pattinson in the running to play Cyclops but take those with a pinch of salt.

Either way they’ll face-off against Isaac who will of course, by the time of X-Men: Apocalypse’s, release be strong in the Force as he’ll be seen next year in JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  Source – Variety

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
