After all the boycotting and hoopla the Oscars 2016 threw up very few surprises in announcing the winners at last night’s awards ceremony. Leonardo DiCaprio finally got his little gold man at the fifth time of asking. Room’s brilliant Brie Larson took away Best Lead Actress while Mark Rylance and Alicia Vikander took home the supporting gongs. Alejandro González Iñárritu took home his second Best Director Oscar in as many years having won for Birdman last year but perhaps the one big surprise was The Revenant, despite winning best director, didn’t take home Best Picture. That accolade went to the immersive and disturbing Spotlight. You can see the full list of winners below. Did Oscar get it right? Did the right people win? Was Leo’s Oscar based on merit of pervious achievements? Let us know.

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
