Oxide Ghosts is back on the road

Celebrating 25 years of the controversial comedy classic Brass Eye, original series director Michael Cumming’s acclaimed and rarely seen film project Oxide Ghosts: The Brass Eye Tapes is on tour once again.

The film, which is only ever screened at live events with Cumming in attendance and not available anywhere else, is made from hundreds of hours of unseen/behind-the-scenes footage from Cumming’s personal archive and provides a unique perspective on the series’ production and the extraordinary working practices of comedy legend Chris Morris.

Morris, the face of the series alongside other celebrated projects including The Day Today, is notoriously private – but Oxide Ghosts carries his blessing. These special anniversary shows are described as “a must for fans of the series but will appeal to anyone with a curiosity about how great comedy is made”. 


In honour of the Brass Eye birthday there have been tributes published and repeats scheduled, but the surprise popularity of an almost unpublicised touring event, called Oxide Ghosts: The Brass Eye Tapes, perhaps says even more about the enduring influence of the show.
