Paddy Considine, soon to be seen in Edgar Wright’s The World’s End, has signed up to star alongside Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace for Child 44. The film, which is based on the book by Tom Rob Smith, is set in 1950s Soviet Russia and follows Hardy as a disgraced policeman who stands by his wife as she is suspected of being a spy. Shipped off to the furthest reaches of Russia he continues his investigation into a series of child killings and in doing so digs up more than he bargained for about his own past.
Gary Oldman is on board to play the chief of police who investigates Hardy’s character while Joel Kinnaman will play his former colleague who is determined to see him humiliated in the police force. Zero Dark Thirty’s Fares Fares has just been cast as one of Hardy’ colleagues who helps him but Considine’s role is being kept quiet for now, which in itself may suggest who he’ll be playing. The film is being directed by Safe House’s Daniel Espinosa and is aiming for a 2014 release. Before that Considine will soon be seen in Honour. Source – The Wrap
