Pirates Of The Caribbean Find New Directors
Pirates Of The Caribbean, having hauled in a treasure chest of more than $1 billion on their last outing, have now captured a director team for the fifth movie. The directors in question are Kon-Tiki’s Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. Kon-Tiki, which you can see the trailer for below, was the Oscar nominated story about explorer Thor Heyerdal crossing the Pacific, all 4,300 miles of it, on a tiny wooden raft in 1947. While the relative small budget of that film of only $16.6 million will mean a big jump for the directing pair, they clearly know how to create adventure, not to mention visual panache (seriously, look how pretty Kon-Tiki is) and a flair for adventure on the high seas. What more could Captain Jack Sparrow want? Johnny Depp is confirmed to return with a script by Pirates veteran Terry Rossio with a polish by Jeff Nathanson. At one point it was rumoured that the likes of Snow White And The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders could be in line to direct but it seems Ronning and Espen were what really floated the pirate boat. The aim is to start shooting later this year so expect more casting to be added to the Depp topping roster. Source – Deadline
