Natali Portman, not seen on screen since 2011’s Thor but soon to be seen in Terrence Malick’s Knight Of Cups opposite Christian Bale, is set to play Lady Macbeth opposite Michael Fassbender in Snowtown director Justin Kurzel’s upcoming adaptation of Shakespeare’s play. Fassbender was only announced yesterday with news confirming that the story will retain the Shakespearian language as well as the 11th Century setting. The story of Macbeth sees the Scottish Lord hell-bent on becoming king with the aid of his scheming wife, to be played by Portman. Portman will presumably be busy brushing up on her Scottish accent. The pair were set to star together in Portman’s upcoming project Jane Got A Gun but Fassbender had to pull out due to scheduling issues with X-Men: Days Of Future Past. They are, in theory, both set to star in Terrence Malick’s as yet untitled upcoming project but as history has proven there’s no guaranteeing that either will make the eventual cut after Malick has finished in the edit. Before that Portman will be seen later this year reprising her role as Jane Foster in Thor: The Dark World. Source – Screen Daily
