Shailene Woodley, the actress who shot to stardom for her role opposite George Clooney in The Descendants, has been cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.  Woodley had been cast as Peter Parker’s love interest Mary-Jane Watson but it seems the producers and director Marc Webb are planning for the future and want to introduce the character in a later film.  Earlier this week it was announced that Sony had set release dates for Spider-Man 3 and 4 so there is certainly scope for Woodley to still be seen in the role.  Webb had always maintained that Mary-Jane’s importance in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was minimal, appearing more as a set-up to later films, which now appears to be truer than ever.  The news follows actress Felicity Jones’ recent comments that implied she could also be on board as a love interest for old Spidey as the character Black Cat not to mention Emma Stone’s return as Gwen Stacey.  So could it be that there were simply too many girls for Spider-Man to juggle to allow Woodley’s character to remain in the film? It’s not all doom and gloom for Woodley who is currently filming in the lead role for Divergent.  Source- Entertainment Weekly

Alex Moss’ obsession with film began the moment he witnessed the Alien burst forth from John Hurt’s stomach. It was perhaps ill-advised to witness this aged 6 but much like the beast within Hurt, he became infected by a parasite called ‘Movies’. Rarely away from his computer or a big screen, as he muses on Cinematic Deities, Alex is “more machine now than man. His mind is twisted and evil”. Email: alex.moss@filmjuice.com
