Spielberg Out, Eastwood In For American Assassin
Earlier this week Steven Spielberg pulled out of the director’s chair for true life film American Assassin but that’s not put a bullet in the project, far from it as news now comes that Clint Eastwood has stepped up to the scope to replace him. The film is still starring and being produced by Bradley Cooper with Warner Bros. backing the project. American Assassin tells the true story of NAVY Seal Chris Kyle, a Texan sharp shooter who made a record number of kills for America. But his keen accuracy came at a price and alienated him from his wife. In a twist of fate Kyle was later killed by a fellow war veteran at a shooting range. To lose one Oscar winning director only to replace him with another is no mean feat and proof that Cooper certainly has some pull in Hollywood. Eastwood was supposed to start work on his adaptation of Jersey Boys but with Cooper’s schedule ever filling-up it might be that Assassin has to come first. Cooper will next be seen in opposite his Silver Linings Playbook co-star Jennifer Lawrence in both Serena and then again in American Hustle with Christian Bale and Amy Adams. Source – Twitch
