Superman & Spider-Man Sequels Are Inbound

Superman & Spider-Man Sequels are inbound.  It seems that while both Man Of Steel and The Amazing Spider-Man franchises have had sequels either in the works or announced last week that it’s not enough for studios Marvel and DC.

Man Of Steel, having made $196.7 million at the global box office on its opening weekend, was said to have a sequel in the works last week prior to the film’s release.  But after that huge box office haul it seems that head of domestic distribution for Warner Bros. Dan Fellman wants to go down the whole Marvel Avengers route and build up the DC universe to bring about a Justice League movie.  But the latest news has it that Warners have accelerated development on Man Of Steel 2 in order to rush it to be on screens for a 2014 release.  That doesn’t give director Zack Snyder and writer David S. Goyer much time to enjoy their success and it could be that like The Amazing Spider-Man that turnaround is too quick and a new deal is struck to have a 2015 release.

Meanwhile on the Spider-Man front it seems Sony have set release dates for a third and fourth film in the web-slinging franchise.  With The Amazing Spider-Man currently shooting in New York and scheduled for release in May 2014, the studio want to see the next two films after that released in June 2016 and May 2018.  The franchise is the most successful in Sony’s history so are anxious that buzz for it not die down.  Whether the talent from the first two movies, including director Marc Webb and stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, will has not been mentioned but it’s likely that at the very least Garfield will have signed a muiti-picture deal to return as Peter Parker.  So what do you think?  Are you ready for more Man Of Steel and Spider-Man and a lot of red and blue spandex?  Source – Columbia Pictures via Coming Soon and The Wall Street Journal
